Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, the star of TLC’s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, is using Facebook to sell Girl Scout cookies. She currently has 700,000 fans on Facebook. The boxes of Girl Scout Cookies are being sold for $3.50 plus shipping. Each box will be signed by Honey Boo Boo herself and includes an autographed picture of the family. Just think of all the cookies that she is going to sell with that incentive.
I think that this is somewhat comical but it shows how things are changing. Girl Scouts are no longer going door to door to sell cookies like I did as a Brownie Girl Scout. By selling the cookies on Facebook, it saves time and is very easy to do. You can also reach a lot of people in a short amount of time. It shows just how quickly things change and how big a part social media is of our lives. We can all learn something from this; if you ever need to sell or raise money for an organization, look to Facebook or Twitter. You don’t need to be a star to do that.
